National Weather Service Forecast Office
With hurricane Irma recently passing through the Keys, this weather station was ground ZERO for the information you saw on the news!
You normally don’t think of a weather tracking station as any sort of a tourist attraction but this one is just a little bit different. Here in Key West the town is known as an artists haven with a great number of Rembrandt & Micheal Angelo wannabe’s living and thriving here in Florida’s southernmost outpost.
Here at the weather station are two of the more outstanding pieces. First is a living sculpture of a dog made of potted plants and looks awesome and very unique to say the least (seasonal so cross your fingers on seeing this one). The other is not so distinguishable, some say it’s a dog while others have said it’s a form of a mouse. Either way, this weather station has tourists coming to its office for things other than the weather.
You can find the National Weather Service and its permanent artwork at 1315 White Street here in the heart of Key West.
